Farol da Barra beach is located in the neighborhood of Barra, in Salvador, the capital city of the state of Bahia.
It corresponds to the stretch between the Santo Antônio da Barra Fort (where the Barra Lighthouse is located) and the Cristo Hill (where there is a monument dedicated to Jesus Christ).
The beach is located about five kilometers away from the Center and is bathed by the Atlantic Ocean.

One part of the beach is protected by reefs, offering, especially at low tide, sea with small waves and natural pools.
Next to Morro do Cristo there is the sea with waves suitable for surfing, very common in the area
Barra beaches are known for their diverse audience, for having the Nautical Museum – better known as Farol da Barra – and for being the most popular circuit of Salvador Carnival. The seafront is taken by sportsmen on the bike path by cycling, running, walking, skateboarding or skating. On the beach sand, there are licensed street vendors who sell since rennet cheese until the “capelinha” popsicle, traditional here.Prices are not exorbitant like other famous beaches in Brazil - coconut water, R$ 2; soft drink, R$ 2.50; beer, R$3. For lunch, there are several options of restaurants close by. There are also umbrella and chairs rental services.
