Vacuum Sewers are used in environmentally sensitive areas and in areas that have difficult ground conditions. Used mainly in septic to sewer programs or residential developments, vacuum sewers are seen as a low cost alternative to traditional gravity sewers. Low Capital costs due to shallow trenching, fast installation and fewer pump stations. And low operational costs due to a small number of components that require power or maintenance.
Vacuum sewers are also considered to be the smartest and greenest of all sewage collection systems for communities. It is easy to monitor all aspects of the system informing operations of infiltration (I&I) potential breakdowns and loss of pressure and energy costs.
