We leave camp at horseshoe Lake and stop at the abandoned house we had passed on the way in. An amazing old place, as often they are, and you wonder about the lives it shaped.
The it was off to Cairo Illinois. This city confuses me a bit. It's not that I don't understand the history, it's more the dichotomy of the city "ruins" versus the glorious home you can find here--and still in wonderful shape!
We tour the Historic districts and see the "Manors" and the ruins of the once thriving city. Incredible building in the main part of town are tempered with the vacant lots and dilapidated building in the area closer to the waterfront.
My fourth time here and it still intrigues me!
Amazing things to do in Illinois!
