The Bondys sued Gold Cross Ambulance Service for negligence after Kathryn Bondy was injured when her leg slid off the backboard during transport. The district court granted summary judgment in favor of Gold Cross, stating that there was not enough proof that the "gurney incident" caused any compensable damage. The Bondys appealed, arguing that their expert testimony established a genuine issue of material fact as to causation.
