Today is the 169th birthday of Indian Railways but unfortunately a minor accident took place last night near Matunga station on the Central Railway.

The Dadar - Puducherry Express was departing from Dadar Terminus and crossing over to the mainline when the Mumbai CST - Gadag Express collided with its side. Luckily both the trains were going at a slow speed so there were no injuries.

Today morning I was a Titvala slow local (running 1 hour late) and managed to capture the accident site. Apparently 3 coaches had derailed and in the morning the re-railing work of the last coach was going on in full swing. Even the electric equipment and tracks had to be repaired.

On my way back in the evening, I managed to capture a photograph of the damaged coaches of the Puducherry Express which can be seen at the end of the video.
