◘ Why not use indesign to make custom bullets?
Because it’s a pain in the… well. It can be done, but buckle-up because there are a few steps.
1. You need an SVG of your custom bullet. So export from Illustrator.
2. Turn your SVG into a font file with glyphter.com and install it
3. In InDesign, highlight your bulleted list, and under ‘bullets and numbering’, press options.
4. Hit add and select your new font from the drop down, find your custom bullet, press add and then hit OK.
5. Use character styles to tweak alignment and sizing.
In my opinion your bullet should align to the baseline of your type, and be as tall as the X-height. But that’s subjective, and it totally depends on the shape of the bullet, so you do you. 🥴👍
