Hang out with me and Harold the Cat as we clean up our front porch and decorate for fall. Then we'll head into the kitchen and make an old-fashioned gluten-free apple crisp recipe. You can make this a gluten-free crisp or completely filled with gluten, whatever fits you and your family. Either way you make it, it's the perfect recipe to celebrate this wonderful autumn season.

INGREDIENTS:
Apple Filling:
8 Granny Smith apples
1 tablespoon salted butter, melted
2 tablespoons sour cream
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1/2 cup pure cane sugar
1/4 cup light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon corn starch
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Apple Crisp Topping:
3/4 cup gluten-free oats
1/2 cup gluten-free flour
3/4 cup light brown sugar
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 cup salted butter, thinly sliced
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Pre-heat the oven to 375° F.
2. Wash, core, peel, and slice the apples into a large bowl.
3. Add butter, sour cream, and lemon juice to the apples.
4. Then mix in the sugar, brown sugar, and salt.
5. Stir in the corn starch and cinnamon 'til everything is mixed well.
6. Pour the apple mixture into an 8"x8" pan or a 7" to 9" baking dish and set aside.
7. Mix together the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a separate mixing bowl.
8. Using a pastry blender, cut the butter into the oat mixture until you have a very crumbly mixture.
9. Crumble the topping over the apples in the baking dish.
10. Bake at 375°F for about an hour, or until the top is a deep golden brown.
11. Remove the crisp from the oven and allow it to cool.
12. Serve while slightly warm or cooled with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
