China's radio presence is strong, not only on shortwave, but also on mediumwave. This signal travelled nearly 8900 km before reaching that excellent delta loop antenna in New Zealand, and still managed to hold its own against a Kiwi domestic signal on the same frequency!
First about two minutes of this recording contains closing of a piano concerto hour, as usually broadcast on CNR6 at 1500-1600 UTC. Note the female announcer giving snail mail address in Beijing for the show. Then, the usual sign-off procedure begins, and it consists of many station IDs, promos and a frequency announcement (outdated - it mentions eg. 9170 kHz, which was vacated, IIRC, somewhere in 2010-2011, in favour of 9420 kHz inside the 31m band). The transmitter cuts off the air abruptly, although as scheduled, at 1605:00 UTC, leaving Star in the clear with the news.
Recorded off an excellent KiwiSDR in Bay of Islands, in the north of New Zealand, [ Ссылка ], at 15:57-16:05 UTC on July 20, 2017. Funnily, this far-away placed SDR was the only one that provided that good signal of CNR6 on MW.
