Japan Airlines (JAL) has taken delivery of its first A350-1000 from Airbus’ delivery center in Toulouse, France. The A350-1000 is set to become the airline’s new international aircraft, I toured their new flagship aircraft.
Before the delivery ceremony, I visited the Airbus Final Assembly Line (FAL) of the A350 with a quick look at the production of the A350. This was followed by the delivery ceremony which showcased the new Japan Airlines A350-1000.
In First Class, the new seating arrangement features 6 suites. Just 3 suites per row in a 1-1-1 configuration, each First Class suite features a double seat and bed. In Business Class, there are 54 private suites with doors, and the seat can convert into a bed of 198cm long.
The Premium Economy cabin (24 seats) features large partitions to improve privacy significantly. It is also the first Premium Economy Class in the world to introduce electrically operated recline functionality. JAL A350-1000 has one of the most spacious legrooms in Economy Class (33-34 inches pitch).
Japan Airlines A350-1000 will be initially flying on the Tokyo Haneda - New York JFK route. It has a total of 13 A350-1000 on order to replace the B777-300/ER fleet.
