"The AR Drone 2.0 is a helicopter that you control with your smart phone or tablet, so iOS or Android. And basically, what you do is it's sending a Wi-Fi signal, you download the free application and you simply control it by tilting your tablet and one direction or the other."
4. Medium, AR Drone interface running on iPad
5. SOUNDBITE (English) Julien Galou, Product Manager, Parrot:
"And the good thing is that you have an HD camera embedded in it. And what the drone sees in the air is what you see on your tablet in real time. You can record it, share it and create videos."
6. Medium, AR Drone application displaying video captured by Drone's camera, UPSOUND: (English) "I've been recording at CES earlier today, and you can scroll through the videos. You can share it very easily."
7. SOUNDBITE (English) Julien Galou, Product Manager, Parrot:
"We think that people will love to actually see what is happening in the air. But we've got a lot of calls from people willing to use it for more professional use, from video makers to farmers, for example. We got fireman willing to use it to inspect areas they couldn't go into."

10. SOUNDBITE (English) Julien Galou, Product Manager, Parrot:
"The range of the drone is 150 feet. So, 50 metres approximately. It depends on the Wi-Fi connections. So obviously if you are in a very crowded Wi-Fi environment like today for example you have less range."

LEAD IN:
Thought drones were used in military operations in Afghanistan? Now you can have your own drone with video capability to record the bird's eye view from the drone.
The AR Drone is controlled by a tablet, and you can upload the video straight on to social media networking sites.
STORYLINE:
This drone is taking monitoring to new heights.
The AR Drone has been catching people's eyes for a few years now. But the latest version, the AR Drone 2.0 will allow you to record exactly what's being seen from up above.
The new version has a high-definition camera installed that gives you a bird's eye view of the drone's flight, and also records the video to disk to view later.
Controlled by a smartphone or tablet, Parrot product manager, Julien Galou says the drone can be controlled by tilting the tablet from one direction or the other.

Once the flight has ended, videos can be uploaded to popular video sites YouTube and Facebook, all from within the AR Drone application.
Galou explains, "And the good thing is that you have an HD camera embedded in it. And what the drone sees in the air is what you see on your tablet in real time. You can record it, share it and create videos."
Julien Galou says that even though the AR Drone was meant to be used for fun, serious professionals like firemen are using it to assess situations that may be too difficult to see from the ground.
The drone has a 50 metre (150 feet) range, but it is determined by the Wi-Fi signal.
