When installing an aftermarket amplifier for subwoofers or speakers for a car audio system that you are keeping the factory radio, you need a way to take the speaker level signal from the vehicle and convert it to an RCA line level (low level) signal. The device that allows you to do this is called a Line Output Converter, or LOC. But do you need an active LOC, or passive? And what features do different LOC's have?
