How To Get Good At Gypsy Rhythm
Coquette is a really popular tune you'll hear it at jams all over the world. It's bright catchy and has that feel good vibe that we love in gypsy jazz.
In this lesson you'll learn how to get good at playing gypsy jazz rhythm and we'll be jamming on Coquette while we do it.
This is especially useful for gypsy jazz guitarists who want to build confidence in their rhythm playing.
The ONE thing you need to do everyday to get good at playing gypsy jazz rhythm, even if only for five minutes a day - that is practice with a metronome.
It doesn't matter how many fancy chord inversions we know or how many tunes we know, if we can't stay in time then nobody will want to play with us - simple!
SO to get good at staying in time you need to practice playing rhythm to a metronome every day.
Set it to 120 bpm and play simple light crisp downstrokes - nothing fancy.
When that is feeling in control then try doubling it.
Keep it steady and lock in with the metronome.
Don't over think this but instead be consistent and actually do it every day.
In one weeks time you will notice the difference!
