The City of Cape Town is forging ahead with a large-scale plan to purchase energy on the open market, in a bid to end loadshedding as soon as possible.
Renewable energy will form a major part of its biggest project of procuring 500 megawatts of power. The goal is to shield the city from high stages of loadshedding.
