A Māori short film, Ahi Kā, has won an award at the Hawaiian International Film Festival. It's believed to be the first time a NZ film has won the top award, the Halekulani, Golden Orchid Award, at the festival. Directed by Richard Curtis and produced by Jillian White, the film is the product of a successful collaboration among whānau members.
