The haveli belonged to the Sethis family, wealthy Hindu traders who emigrated from Bhera (Punjab) to Peshawar during Sikh rule in the 19th century. Its construction began in 1835 and was finally completed 49 years later, in 1884. The house consists of three parts: the tehkhana (basement), the dalan (courtyard) and the balakhana (first floor). It is entered through a carved wooden door leading to a central courtyard, framed by delicately decorated wooden arches, and in the centre of which stands a fountain. The woodwork, frescoes and calligraphy on the walls are exquisite. Coloured stained glass windows and mosaics made of small mirrors bear witness to the influence exerted by the surrounding countries: Iran, Afghanistan, India, Central Asia... Let yourself be charmed by the beauty and timelessness of the place!
