15) General Audition Tips
Here’s my list of tips for drama school auditions, all the things I feel are super important to remember or that I may not have had the chance to mention in any of my other videos!
1. If you know people at certain schools, don't be afraid to ask them for help!
2. Trust in your preparation
3. Plan your journey in advance
4. Press 'Walk' on Maps, not 'Car' haha
5. Don't walk too fast - you can catch someone's eye and make a friend!
6. Don't sit on your own, be chatty, be friendly - they're watching you 24/7
7. Be there to work
8. If you're ill, you can reschedule
9. Don't be put off by them writing things down
10. Don't apologise for yourself
11. Don't bring loads of things into the audition room with you
12. Say 'thank you' at the door
13. Introduce your pieces clearly
14. The pianist is your best friend
15. Don't be put off if someone sings the same song as you
16. Be aware of show-offs
17. Don't sit cross-legged on the floor - pins & needles!
18. Don't just concentrate on a bad ending, remember all the things that went well
19. Stand strong after your performance, don't run off
20. SMILE in the dance call
21. Relax - the panel want you to succeed
22. Follow each school's instructions
23. Follow the people you meet on social media
24. Read over your audition journal notes before
25. Don't EVER hold back!!!
26. Wear the same thing in your recall that you wore in your first round
27. Record a video of yourself doing the audition dance in case it's needed for the recall
28. Calm your nerves in recalls - they like you!
29. Don't be afraid if they're really serious
