Idli is a popular South Indian delicacy which often eaten for breakfast. This healthy breakfast recipe is loved by everyone and is enjoyed with coconut chutney and traditional South Indian Sambar. As Idlis are steamed it is very healthy to eat.
Recipe:
Ingredients:
3 Cups of Rice
1.5 Cups of Urad Dal
Lemon Slice
Salt
Water
Oil
Procedure:
1. Soak rice and urad dal for 5-6 hours.
2. Then grind them separately, mix them & let the mixture ferment for 8-10 hours.
3. Batter is now ready.
4. Add salt and water as per requirement and make the batter for idli.
5. Keep a thick consistency for spongy idli.
6. Grease the idli maker dish with oil.
7. Pour the batter in the dish.
8. Now heat some water in idli maker and add a lemon slice to it. This prevents the maker from turning black.
9. Place the idli maker dishes in it and steam the idli for 10-15 minutes.
10. South Indian Idli is ready to eat with Sambar and Chutney.
