The Cave of the Wind (Pestera Vantului) is the largest cave in Romania, with a length of almost 52 km. The Wind Cave is located in the northern part of the Pădurea Craiului Mountains, less than 200 meters from the Crișul Repede River. The Franturii meadow and the Suncuius camping plateau is very close to the cave. The name of the cave comes from the fact that at the entrance a very strong air current is formed, due to the very long length of the galleries. Depending on the temperature differences between the indoor and outdoor environment, the wind can reach a speed of tens of kilometers per hour.
