Yellow wheat rust is a serious disease of wheat that can seriously reduce yield and cause global food shortages in severe cases.
Wheat is required for so much of everyday life, and with the global population increasing, it is crucial that we minimise the loss of yield. The John Innes Centre research is focused on several core areas, one of which is global food security.
JIC researchers have been studying how yellow rust resistance genes can be used to reduce crop losses.
