- Giro E70 Knit
Knitted uppers have become popular options for athletics shoes over the last few years, and the Giro E70 Knit is one of the first cycling shoes to use the technology. Giro says it makes for a subtle, comfortable and breathable fit. It’s DWR treated too to shed the wet if the rain starts during your ride.

- Pearl Izumi Pro Leader V4
Pearl Izumi’s sole is a thing of beauty, with its translucent finish a refreshing change from the usual carbon black. It’s not neglected the uppers either, with an asymmetric closure designed to help relieve pressure points.

- Vittoria Velar
The new Vittoria Velar shoe comes in a range of eye-catching metallic finishing colours, closed with two Boa dials. Vittoria has also designed a forged carbon sole which it says reduces weight by 28% over a standard carbon unit.

- Fizik Infinito R1B
The shoe worn by Philippe Gilbert and Geraint Thomas, the Infinito R1B has a new closure system, with realigned wires, which Fizik says gives improved volume control.

There’s also a new mesh insole for added under-foot air circulation. It’s joined by a new R1 Knit shoe with a knitted upper similar to the Giro E70 Knit.

- Scott Road RC SL
Scott’s latest top-end road shoe comes with carbon fibre uppers, for decreased weight and better foot support, leading to improved power delivery. All the tech in the new shoe doesn’t come cheap though, with Scott pricing the RC SL at almost £400.

- Northwave Flash TH
The new Flash TH earns its “hottest” billing, as it’s designed for winter riding.

The upper is fully enclosed and features Northwave’s Biomap Aero Overlap design, for slicker windcheating. There’s also a layer of 3M Thinsulate insulation built in, to keep your feet warmer.
