Prime minister Boris Johnson and his wife Carrie have announced the birth of “a healthy baby girl” at a London hospital early on Thursday.

The baby is the couple’s second child together – and the prime minister’s seventh – following the birth of Wilfred in April 2020.

There has long been speculation around Mr Johnson's family life, as he consistently refused to reveal how many children he had.
