Missiles sent to South China Sea
China has denied reports that it has sent surface-to-air missiles to a disputed island in the South China Sea. Both Taiwan and Vietnam claim the island, which Beijing has controlled for more than 40 years. Meanwhile, leaders from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and US President Barack Obama met to talk about easing tension in the region. More than 5 trillion dollars of maritime trade passes through the South China Sea each year. Several countries claim the disputed territory.
US jets flown over base
The US has flown four fighter jets over its air base in Osan. Washington and Seoul are in talks to deploy a missile defence system to South Korea. Last week, the South began pulling out of the Kaesong industrial zone it shares with North Korea. It was in response to North Korea's recent launch of what Pyongyang says was an Earth observation satellite. But the United States, Japan and South Korea say it was cover for a ballistic missile test.
Police ‘underestimated’ aboriginal murders
The minister of indigenous affairs has accused the police of failing to investigate the deaths of aboriginal women. The government says more than 11-hundred aboriginal women have been murdered or gone missing in the past three decades. But the Native Women's Association of Canada believes the number is closer to 4-thousand. And that many of those deaths have been wrongly put down to suicide or natural causes. Late last year, the government promised to launch an inquiry into the issue.
FBI orders Apple to unlock gunman’s iPhone

The encryption allows users to set their phones to delete data if its passcode is entered incorrectly 10 times. The FBI wants Apple to remove this restriction from Syed Rizwan Farook’s phone. But Apple says it will defy the order.
