The Golden Horn is a major urban waterway and the primary inlet of the Bosphorus in Istanbul, Turkey. This estuarial inlet geographically separates the historic centre of Istanbul from the rest of the city, and form a horn-shaped, sheltered harbour. The Galata Tower is named after the quarter in which it's located. Built as a watchtower, the Galata Tower is now an exhibition space and museum, and one of the symbols of Istanbul.
The Dolmabahçe Palace served as the main administrative centre of the Ottoman Empire from 1856 to 1887, and from 1909 to 1922. Dolmabahçe Palace was ordered by the Empire's 31st sultan, Abdülmecid I, and built between the years 1843 and 1856.
The Rumelihisari was conceived and built between 1451 and 1452 on the orders of Ottoman sultan Mehmed II. The fortress was built in a short period of four months before the conquest of Istanbul in order to prevent attacks and block aids from the north of Bosphorus.
