Let's get our hands dirty! I show you how I cut the pipes to the central heating boiler and switch to a unique alternative...
Here is the second part of the implementation video (first one was 3 days ago). It shows how I do the hard work of adapting the central heating system so that the fossil fuel boiler can be replaced by our system based on DIY heat pumps and two Thermal Energy Storages. Your central heating network will now also be ready to cool in summer!
DIY difficulty level: 80%
CONTEXT
I showed in video 71 that the heat pump and storage based winter home heating and summer cooling, … is really working. Even if not at all perfect, but the concept is valid and from here we can go on with optimisation. The first airplane was also noisy and slow. This is 72b and the continuation of 72a, both showing how I did everything.
👀 Why Watch this video? 👀
As promised 2 weeks ago, I realised a heat pump based alternative to the fossil fuel home heating that are still in so many houses.
I just cut the pipes between the gas boiler and the network of radiators in the house and put a double thermal storage of water in its place. One tank (warm) is for heating in the winter, the other (cold) tank is for cooling next summer. But in principle you should try to use both tanks in all seasons to exploit the full potential of the heat pump. The double tank is simultaneously charged with a pair of simple mobile air conditioners that so many people try to sell at the end of the summer. This is my secret of double efficiency: everywhere I look, the heat pump is used only at one side.
In this way I am able to store 2 x 12 kWh thermal energy in the best and cheapest storage medium, water. That is the same material as what you are pumping around through the radiators in your house! So that makes it easier to connect it all together.
Next year I will improve it, also as answer to your many comments with splendid ideas.
Whether you're a DIY enthusiast or just looking to improve energy efficiency in your home, this guide provides a hands-on, affordable solution for winter heating using renewable energy. And in summer, the same system will help you cool the house and provide warm domestic water at the same time!
