The Australian Institute of Marine Science's ReefScan technology uses machine learning, a form of artificial intelligence, to identify and classify tropical marine life such as corals and other reef communities. It can be used on vessels for routine and reactive monitoring.
We recently set up ReefScan on an autonomous surface vehicle to survey large areas of Davies Reef at ReefWorks, our marine technology test range in Australia’s central Great Barrier Reef.
