Minister for Manpower, Josephine Teo, announced at the Solidarity Budget on 6 April 2020 that Small and Medium Enterprises will have their April levy payments on foreign work permit and S Pass holders waived. Employers will also receive a one-off rebate of $750 per worker, based on the number of workers holding work permits and S Passes. The move, she said, was designed to help employers tie over cash flow difficulties during the current “circuit breaker” period, so that they can be prepared to resume operations immediately after.
