Apple has proposed a $10 million investment in Indonesia to restore legal access to its iPhone 16, following a ban due to unmet domestic production requirements. The amount is the equivalent of what they owned to Indonesia in promised investments.
The proposal includes setting up a new facility in Bandung, where Apple and its suppliers would manufacture components and accessories.
After failing to meet their promised investments with the country, Apple products, including the iPhone, were banned and made illegal to use.
This push conects with Indonesia's strategy to pressure foreign companies into boosting local manufacturing as it tries to protect domestic industries under President Prabowo Subianto's administration.
