This Christmas at the Vatican, Pope Francis will lead a series of profound liturgies marking the beginning of the 2025 Jubilee Year, a time of grace, forgiveness, and spiritual renewal for the Church. On Christmas Eve, the Pope will open the Holy Door at St. Peter's Basilica, starting the Jubilee and leading the Christmas Eve Mass. On Christmas Day, he will offer his traditional “Urbi et Orbi” blessing for peace to the world. A historic moment follows on December 26, as Pope Francis opens a second Holy Door at Rebibbia Prison, symbolizing hope and redemption for prisoners. He will also lead the Angelus for the Feast of St. Stephen, the first Christian martyr. As the year draws to a close, Pope Francis will celebrate the first Vespers of the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, on December 31, followed by Holy Mass on January 1. The Epiphany Mass on January 6 will highlight Christ’s revelation to the Magi. Throughout this period, additional Holy Doors at the papal basilicas will remain open to pilgrims, inviting them to transition from sin to grace.
