I spent 10 hours out in the glorious Kent countryside trying to capture as many aerial views of The Great Stour river. Through some late night research, I discovered that the actual source of the Great Stour is situated in the small Kent village of Lenham.
To be honest there are many parts at the start of the Great Stour that aren't actually that 'great' at all. It looks more like a steam if anything for majority of it's journey towards Canterbury. It wasn't before it got closer to Wye and Chartham that it resembled anything 'great'.
So I was slightly disappointed by some of the footage that I filmed during the early part of the days shoot. But I was rescued by the fact that I was in the Kent countryside that has some spectacular cinematic views.
The DJI Mini 2 performed amazingly well as the wind speeds increased during the day. I also purchased a rapid in-car batter charger that kept my batteries charged whenever I was driving from one location to another.
I had intended to cover the entire length of the Great Stour to its end in Plucks Gutter where it meets the Little Stour and becomes 'The Stour'. But because of the amount of time it takes to find somewhere to park a car in the Kent countryside, I wasted a lot of time so decided to end the shoot at Canterbury. this will give me the opportunity to create a 2nd part to this topic and do Canterbury to Plucks Gutter another day.
