I know it is hard near Mother's Day because most of our lives we have loved our mother's through thick and thin, and we always wished they would feel our love and treat us with the respect we deserved, but somehow we knew something just wasn't right how we were spoken to and treated by our own mother. It felt toxic, combative, competitive, draining and strained. It didn't feel like warm, compassionate or loving with our mother like we witnessed others having with theirs OR how it must have felt for our "Golden Child" sibling(s). Sadly, not all mothers deserve the title "Mother" and certainly not the ones who mentally abused you or allowed you to be abused by others. I hope this video helps someone who is contemplating whether or not to celebrate Mother's Day with their Narcissistic Mother. Celebrate yourself for being a survivor, your own protector, or maybe even celebrate another "mother role model" you had/have in your life to fill the gap.
