Two basic assumptions underlie most research on agenda-setting: One, that the press and the media do not reflect reality, they filter and shape it; and two, that media concentration on a few issues and subjects lead the public to perceive those issues as more important than other issues.
Mr. Ashok Srivastava is a renowned journalist who has recently achieved the significant milestone of 20 successful years at Doordarshan (DD) India. With the talk titled, ‘The humbling story behind Do Took: DD News’, he put forth a poignant reminder to the audience as they started pondering over the million-dollar question ~ the remote control is in our own hands and hence, the onus is on the viewers to change the media being shown on television these days. Simultaneously, he has outlined every nook and cranny of the right to Freedom of Speech & its ironical fate of being enjoyed and exploited, both at the same time. Using his own glorious example, he has depicted how milestones can still be achieved while staying at one place, without regularly switching and taking unnecessary stress. Mr. Ashok victoriously taught the audience to breathe through FOMO - Fear Of Missing Out, which is indeed the prime source of anxiety in this world.
