Flor Peeters wrote his Suite Modale in 1938. It comprises of four movements and is influenced by the earlier Suite Gothique of Leon Boellmann. In particular in the first movement, this is evident. The majestic chords from the start are echoed on the Swell throughout, just like the Introduction to Boellmann's own work. Peeters use of rich, and occasionaly jazzy harmonies are evident in this movement.
