Hello everyone, Teddy here from Simple Tank, reporting from Marlboro, New Jersey. Just a couple of weeks ago, we successfully removed a 550-gallon tank from this property, and today we're back to remediate the soils. The good news is, it doesn't seem like there's going to be a massive amount of soil coming out. We estimate around one truckload, roughly 25 tons.
Our first step in soil remediation is dealing with the overburden, which is the clean material on top of where the tank was located. We meticulously separate this material to minimize disposal costs. Underneath, where the tank used to be, we excavate the contaminated soil onto a truck for proper off-site disposal. A crucial aspect of this process is taking post-excavation samples. For this 550-gallon tank, we need a total of five samples to ensure the soil meets all cleanup criteria.
Navigating through tight spaces, we carefully back up our truck to the excavation area and begin the process of replacing the contaminated soil with certified clean fill. Our diligent post-excavation screening using the PID meter indicates low contamination levels, providing confidence that the samples sent to the lab will meet the necessary standards.
Today’s remediation was relatively small, showcasing how efficiently we can handle even minor soil issues. By 1 o'clock in the afternoon, we had completed the entire process, including excavation, remediation, and replacement, all within a single day. We are now in the final stages, preparing the necessary reports and documentation for our clients, who are looking to close the property soon. Another successful project in the books! Stay tuned for our next update.
