Warsaw (Polish: Warszawa), formally known as the Capital Metropolis of Warsaw, is Poland's capital and largest city. The metropolis is located on the Vistula River in east-central Poland, and its population is officially estimated at 1.8 million people within a larger metropolitan area of 3.1 million people, ranking Warsaw as the seventh most populated capital city in the European Union. The city area is 517 km2 (200 sq mi) and is divided into 18 boroughs, whereas the metropolitan area is 6,100 km2 (2,355 sq mi). Warsaw is an alpha-global metropolis, a significant cultural, political, and economic center, and the country's capital. Its medieval Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Lodz is a city in central Poland that was once a textile manufacturing center. Its Central Museum of Textiles exhibits 19th-century textile machines, textiles, and handicrafts. The rebuilt Manufaktura complex, formerly a factory, is now a vibrant cultural and artistic hub. Nearby lies the stately Poznanski Palace, which houses the City Museum, which houses artwork and artefacts documenting Lodz history.
