Abstract:
Anthroponymy, the study of human name - standards and norms of using given names, patronymics/matronymics and surnames around the world. And what is the current state of the use of such names among modern Mongols? What is the variation of use in given names, patronymics/matronymics and surnames among Mongol groups in the Russian Federation and PRC, as well as in the independent state of Mongolia? You will answer to these and other questions from the presentation of Dr. Honichuud N. Gerelt.

Speaker bio:
Honichuud N. Gerelt is an Inner Mongolian anthropologist and an onomast. He studied in the Leipzig University, Germany, for his bachelors and masters degrees from 2003 to 2008. He received his doctorate from the Munich University, Germany. From 2014 he taught at the Inner Mongolian University, China. Currently, he is a Research Fellow at the International Institute for the Study of Nomadic Civilization of the UNESCO. Honichuud N. Gerelt authored several articles on Mongolian names and translated works and journals of Mongolists such as Roy C. Andrews and Walter Heissig.

Тэрээр 2014 оноос эхлэн Өвөр Монголын их сургуулийн Угсаатан зүйн тэнхимд багшилж байгаад 2022 оноос НҮБ-ын Боловсрол, шинжлэх ухаан, соёлын байгууллага (UNSECO)-ын харъяа Нүүдлийн соёл иргэншлийг судлах олон улсын хүрээлэнд эрдэм шинжилгээний ажилтнаар ажиллаж байна. Хоньчууд Н. Гэрэлт нь монголчуудын нэр судлалаар олон өгүүлэл хэвлүүлсний зэрэгцээ Рой Чапман Эндрюс, Вальтер Хайсиг гэх зэрэг Монгол судлаач эрдэмтдийн бүтээл туурвил, тэмдэглэлийг орчуулсан билээ.
