Diane Baker (born 1938) often plays the woman who does not get the man: Usually her parts lose out to blondes, or to an older woman, or she is left behind pregnant. But Diane Baker masters all these tests brilliantly, the characters she plays almost never lose their composure and this adds to their attraction. The woman she played in Congratulations, It's a Boy! (1971), dir. William A. Graham is true to that not very glamorous but winning type.
Edited to the tunes of Jan Ladislav Dussek's Sonatina no 4 for Harp, played by Patricia Spero of Cavatina.
