Carter's casket travels from medical center in Americus to Atlanta, Georgia
AMERICUS, PLAINS, AND ATLANTA, GEORGIA, USA – A motorcade carrying former U.S. President Jimmy Carter’s remains travels from the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, through his hometown of Plains, and then to the Carter Presidential Center in Atlanta, Georgia, where he will lie in repose for mourners to pay their respects until Tuesday, January 7. Before arriving at the Carter Presidential Center the motorcade will make a stop at the State Capitol where Governor Brian Kemp and local officials will observe a moment of silence to honor the former president. Carter will lie in repose at the Center until 1100GMT on Tuesday, January 7.
