MTT Open Day
Welcome to another episode in this multi part series where we experience what it was like back in the day when step entrance buses were still in use by featuring a bus from the old days whether it be in preservation or still in use with an independent company. Part 48 takes us for a ride on OEM788S.
This year saw the annual Merseyside Transport Trusts main event take place at their premises in Burscough on the last Sunday in July, a number of buses from their fleet of preserved buses were in use as well as a couple from elsewhere. I didn't get much done on the day as the majority of what was out is already on the channel but a nice result was my bus back to Ormskirk at the end of the event which was preserved Wallasey Corporation 1788/OEM788S, this is a less common MCW bodied Leyland Atlantean AN68/1R which was supplied to the Merseyside PTE in May 1978, despite never wearing this livery in service sister bus 1789 did until 1983 and since that bus was scrapped this was done in memory of it. It's recorded on the penultimate shuttle of the day to Ormskirk and as evident in the video it's a pretty decent bus that sounds lovely.
