Yet another start attempt on the un-identified IH/Solar "mini-micro" turbine.... Reason I call it "mini-micro" is it's the smallest IH/Solar I've ever seen... It's way smaller than a T-62. 10KW direct-driven (yes, 96,000 RPM, 1600Hz) alternator.
She likes to flame out.... no flames, just billowing clouds of white smoke and RPMs drop. Fire just goes out (I think that's why they call it a "flame out", right?). Inreasing the fuel rate on the Air-Fuel control on top of the FCU results is some black smoke on startup, and an excessive EGT shutdown. Decreasing the fuel too much results in failure to gain RPM. Can't find the sweet spot.
Still trying to decide on long term strategy for this little turbine.... Ideas? Restore to original, get running and sell (to buy more turbines of course), try to make it super compact by stripping everything unnecessary off it? I'm still trying to identify it.... seems to be a rare and unusual model... Any comments from fellow turbine addicts appreciated lol
