If you've had the unfortunate experience of being well-acquainted with topical steroid creams you might not be surprised to hear...
Steroid creams might manage symptoms, but they're certainly not a cure.
I'm not anti-TS BUT they are a bandaid intended to block internal, uncontrolled inflammation that shows up on your skin. AND they have a number of concerning side effects like:
🔸Red Burning Skin Syndrome
🔸Topical Steroid Addiction or Withdrawal
🔸Thinning of the skin
🔸Spider veins
🔸Skin discoloration and scarring
🔸Adrenal suppression
🔸Cataract formation (requiring cataract surgery)
🔸Elevated eye pressure
🔸Elevated blood sugar
🔸Poor immune response to candida on the skin
So, what do you do about skin rashes if this topical treatment isn't THE fix?
👉 Use topical steroids sparingly
👉 Reduce usage slowly over time (and get lower potency)
👉 Be very careful applying them to your face
👉 Try using other soothing topicals like CBD, avocado oil, tallow, and lovely blends (like Quell products)
👉 Consider other medications to transition off of them (this is not a fix either, but could be a helpful next step)
While these tips might help to better manage symptoms, remember that the best thing you can do for your skin issues is get to the root cause.
