Yemen's Houthis targeted the Sounion oil tanker and the SW North Wind I vessel in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, the Iran-aligned group's military spokesman Yahya Sarea said on Thursday (August 22).
"The first operation targeted the oil tanker Sounion, belonging to a company that deals with the Israeli enemy and violated the decision to ban entry into the ports of occupied Palestine," Sarea said in a televised statement.
The Greek-flagged Sounion oil tanker carrying 150,000 tonnes of crude that was evacuated by its crew after the attack and now poses an environmental hazard, the EU's Red Sea naval mission "Aspides" said on Thursday.
