The rotating divers bezel on the Rolex Submariner is one of the watch's most distinct features. Many people though are unsure how to use the Submariner bezel. In this Rolex Submariner tutorial we will show you how to use the rotating bezel to measure elapsed time (particularly to measure dive time and oxygen level while scuba diving.
The Rolex Submariner is one of the most iconic and recognizable watches in the Rolex lineup.
This legendary timepiece was originally designed in 1953, and over the years Rolex has continued to improve upon its design and features while maintaining its familiar and timeless look.
After collaborating on the exploration of the deepest parts of our
planet’s oceans and testing the watch to the extreme pressure
of the deep sea, Rolex has created a watch that not only is
capable of withstanding the harsh elements and the rough
environments of exploration, but also an elegant timepiece to
be worn everyday.
A great action and submersible watch The Submariner has
become an important tool for divers, explorers, scientists and
even one of the preferred watches of the most famous movie spy of all
time: Bond....James Bond.
With its’ 31 jewel automatic winding movement - the Submariner is powered by the motion of your wrist. As long as it is being worn the automatic mechanism will keep the watch wound and running.
One key function of the submariner is the rotating divers bezel.
By rotating and reseting the 60 minute bezel, a diver can
clearly read and monitor their dive time. Thus allowing the
Rolex Submariner to be trusted with the divers exact time of
oxygen supply. Not a small detail to overlook.
Before your dive rotate the bezel counter clockwise until the
triangle aligns with the minute hand.
As time elapses you can look at the minute hand to see how much time has passed since you started your dive.
Note that the bezel will not rotate clockwise as a safety
precaution.
Any accidental movement of the bezel will only make for a
shorter diving time - ensuring you don’t spend too much time on your dive and run out of oxygen.
