Gamla stan ( Old Town ) is the historic district of Stockholm located on the islands of Stadsholmen , founded in the 13th century by Jarl Birger . The area of the district is 0.36 km² and is inhabited by about 3,000 people.There is a Rococo-Gustavian brick Royal Palace, completed in 1754.
