The journey of Sa Re Ga Ma began in 1995 with Sonu Nigam as its charismatic host on Zee TV. By 1998, the show’s growing popularity inspired its creators to venture into music albums, leading to the launch of *Sapnay 1*, featuring the third batch of finalists. This album, containing eight melodious tracks (two of which didn’t make it to the CD), was released exclusively on cassette, limiting its reach.

However, the phenomenal success of Sapnay 1 paved the way for its sequel. In 1999, Zee TV and Zee Music unveiled Sapnay 2, the final instalment in the series. This album also featured eight tracks, including a stunning instrumental version of "Khoyi Khoyi Yaadein" (missing from the CD version). Unlike its predecessor, Sapnay 2 was available in both cassette and CD formats. Interestingly, the CD version of Sapnay 2 included bonus tracks from the first volume but excluded two of Sonu Nigam’s songs from Sapnay 1 and the instrumental track from Sapnay 2. The reason behind these exclusions remains a mystery!

Nonetheless, Sapnay 2 stands as a beautiful culmination of the Sa Re Ga Ma legacy, celebrating the budding talents and timeless melodies that emerged from this iconic show.
