President Rodrigo Roa Duterte leads the inspection of the damages at Surigao Airport caused by Typhoon ‘Odette’ (international name: Rai) in Surigao City, Surigao del Norte on December 18, 2021.
In a report by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) during a situation briefing on 17 December 2021, the airport terminal was severely damaged by the typhoon. Nonetheless, the runway remains undamaged and clear of debris, making it safe for planes and choppers carrying relief goods to land.
