Staying off property or driving to Magic Kingdom? BE AWARE! It will take you LONGER to get to the park than those using Disney transportation and here’s why:

The parking lot for Magic Kingdom isn’t actually at the park. It’s at the Transportation and Ticket Center about a mile away. When creating the idea for Walt Disney World, the idea of walking up from the parking lot and seeing the castle felt a little lackluster. So instead, they created the Transportation and Ticket Center with the monorail and ferry boats to help build up anticipation of visiting the park.

The downside is that it does take awhile, especially at busier times of day. I always suggest planning an hour if travel time to make sure that you can get to the parks when you want!
