Poveglia island, located in the Venice Lagoon in Italy, is said to be the most haunted place on Earth. Tour guides shudder at it's name and locals don't dare go to it, because of ghost stories and it's history. It was once a place where plague victims were sent to die and, more recently, a mental asylum. Now, it sits amongst the mist in the Adriatic Sea.
