Marty Moates won both motos of the 1980 US Grand Prix of Motocross at famed Carlsbad Raceway.

Brad Lackey was 'the great American hope' in the 500cc World Motocross Championships that year, riding for Kawasaki.

But it was local racer Marty Moates that surprisingly won both motos on this Father's Day in June of 1980.
