The real history: Richard the Lionheart was the King of England/France during the 3rd crusade. His biggest rival was King Saladin (of Muslim/Islam territories) yet he managed to successfully beat and take several important Forts around the Mediterranean and win many battles starting with Cyprus. He became Saladin's biggest enemy throughout the 3rd crusade proving to be a worthy opponent over many years of battles. Once a treaty was arranged with the Muslim empire he returned to England/France to fight with his brother who stole the throne off him while he was away at war in the Holy Lands. He is considered 1 of the top knights of all time along with another legend:
El Cid of Spain.
