Brett Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford gave emotional testimonies as the pair delivered conflicting accounts of an alleged sexual assault 36 years ago.
In dramatic scenes at a Senate committee hearing on Thursday, the two testified about the alleged 1982 attack, where Ms Ford accuses the Supreme Court nominee of attempting to rape her.
Ms Ford, then 15, told the hearing she felt like he was "accidentally going to kill" her as she was smothered during the sex attack.
In an equally emotional testimony, Mr Kavanaugh denied the claims, describing them as completely false.
Mr Kavanaugh is set to learn on Friday whether he has been accepted onto the Supreme Court.
